Ladies and Gentlemen, we will now begin our final ascent.
In July of 2022, I’ll turn 40. I’m no expert on the effects of aging on physical fitness, but I can say with some certainty that turning 40 (then 41, 42, and so on) does not, in general, make one run faster. On the Venn diagram of Olympians and AARP members, there is very little overlap. So, I’m taking the next year-and-a-half or so to see how fast I can run a 5k. You know, before I turn 40 and begin my (hopefully) slow descent to . . .
I’ll keep up with my progress (or lack thereof) on this blog. Or maybe I’ll delete it and, in the words of the great Mike Tyson, drift off into Bolivian. Time will tell.
Be inspired. And, if not inspired, be entertained.
*If you want running specifics, I track all of my runs on Strava.
